WordPress
To skip the manual steps, tick Install WordPress now in Add site: XAXA creates the database and installs WordPress for you. The steps below are for a manual install.
1. Create the site and database
- Add site → type PHP, PHP 8.4, empty document root.
- In the site's Databases tab create a database, e.g.
blog_db/blog_u. Copy the password. - Point DNS to the server and issue a certificate under Settings → Domain & SSL.
2. Install WordPress with WP-CLI
ssh example@your-server
cd ~/htdocs/example.com
rm index.html
wp core download
wp config create --dbname=blog_db --dbuser=blog_u --dbpass='PASSWORD' --dbhost=127.0.0.1
wp core install --url=https://example.com --title="My blog" --admin_user=admin --admin_email=you@example.com
Or skip the last command and finish the installer in the browser.
3. Use real cron
Add to wp-config.php:
define('DISABLE_WP_CRON', true);
Then add a cron job (every 5 minutes):
cd ~/htdocs/example.com && wp cron event run --due-now
Tips
- The default vhost already handles pretty permalinks.
- Block aggressive bots under Settings → Security, and password-protect staging copies with basic auth.
