Web Terminal
Open a shell in the browser from the Actions menu at the top of any site page (Actions → Terminal).
- The shell runs as the site user — never as root — so it can do exactly what an SSH login for that user can do. The terminal program itself (ttyd) also runs as the site user.
- Each terminal is a separate, single-connection ttyd process on a Unix socket that only nginx can open (the socket belongs to the site's group). It stops when you close the page, and after one hour at the latest.
- The terminal is served on port 2083, a separate browser origin from the panel (8443), and the page embeds it from there. ttyd accepts a WebSocket only from that same origin.
- Every request to the terminal is checked by the panel: only the panel user who opened it can connect, and only while they can still access the site. Signing out, changing your password, losing the site or a deleted account closes open terminals right away.
Use SSH/SFTP for long-running sessions; the browser terminal is meant for quick tasks like composer install, php artisan migrate or git pull.
