Cron Jobs
Cron jobs run as the site user with bash. Manage them in a site's Cron tab; XAXA writes the site user's crontab for you.
Schedule
Use a standard five-field expression or a shortcut:
| Expression | Runs |
|---|---|
* * * * * |
every minute |
*/5 * * * * |
every 5 minutes |
0 3 * * * |
daily at 03:00 |
0 9 * * MON-FRI |
weekdays at 09:00 (month and weekday also take names: JAN, SUN) |
@hourly, @daily, @weekly, @monthly |
shortcuts |
Times use the server's timezone, set under Admin → Instance → Timezone.
The command runs exactly as you type it, also on schedule: a % (as in date +%F) needs no escaping, XAXA escapes it in the crontab for you.
Examples
Laravel scheduler:
cd ~/htdocs/example.com && php artisan schedule:run >> /dev/null 2>&1
WordPress cron (after setting DISABLE_WP_CRON to true):
cd ~/htdocs/example.com && wp cron event run --due-now
Pause and run now
- Pause removes a job from the crontab but keeps it in the panel; Resume puts it back.
- Run now runs the command immediately as the site user, with the same PATH as cron (the site's Node.js/Python version), and shows the exit code and the last 8 KB of output. It stops after 2 minutes.
Notes
- Edit jobs only in the panel; manual
crontab -echanges are overwritten on the next save. - A
%in a command means "newline" to cron; the panel escapes it for you, so write it as%.
